Before I started this blog, I did a lot of research. I've always been a little weary of sharing my work with others when it isn't face to face. But, really there are a lot of benefits to blogging and though this blog isn't super popular (yet!) I'm still glad that I'm doing it. Here is a scripted FAQ to give you an idea of what blogging is about and if its for you.

Why should I blog?

Why not? Blogging allows you to put your thoughts on a page. You have things to say about a certain topic and not everyone you know is interested in the same things you are. By putting it online, you have now networked with people who are interested in the same things as you. You have people that care about what you're writing and people you can interact with. [But by no means is this a valid reason to go out and give all of your personal information to people you meet online, remember Catfish everyone]

I'm not a writer, I can't blog can I?

Of course you can. You can do anything you set your mind to. You can not improve your writing if you aren't doing it often. Blogging gives you the motivation to write daily and improve your skills as a writer.

What about people stealing my work?

There are always trolls on the internet trying to steal your spotlight. Don't let that stop you. Opinionated pieces (such as journals and most articles) are basically untouchable. While someone can steal your opinion and use it in their piece, they'll never be able to write it like you can unless they copy it word for word which is plagiarizing (but by then you can go and take legal action if the troll doesn't take down your work).

Ok, I'm convinced. But...what do I blog about?

 Blog about something you're passionate about. Shannon and I had no idea what to blog about but we both knew that we wanted to blog, so we collaborated to create this awesome blog. We don't have set topics that we blog about. Right now we're just putting out pieces on an array of topics and just feeling out the whole blogging thing. By doing it this way, we're seeing what we like to write about and what the public responds to most. If you know what you want to write about, great. By all means, go out and read other blogs based on that topic to get some ideas and inspiration. But if not, why not try writing about something you're passionate about (for me its gaming and writing if you couldn't tell)? You can also just blog about what's happening in your everyday life.

I have what I'm going to blog about, but which site do I use?

I'm only going to talk about the three main blogging sites that I know about. Blogger, Tumblr and Wordpress. Tumblr, to me, is more casual. If you're just blogging for fun then thats the site for you. More serious bloggers should turn to blogger or wordpress. Having only used blogger, I can vouch for this website because it's really convenient to follow other's blogs, put links and pictures and see the stats of your blog. 

What do I name my blog?

This one is all you. I can't tell you what to name your blog, but I can say that you better think long and hard about it before you enter it. On Blogger, your website url is not changeable so make sure it's one you're happy with. Do not settle because all of your original blog names are taken. It took us a while to get our name perfect so keep trying.

How do I get more followers?

Well, we're not exactly popping with a bunch of followers but the best advice I heard about this is to share your links everywhere. Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, through friends, as much as possible.

To Eat or Not to Eat

I've seen a lot of posts that read along the lines of, "Skinny girl problems..." and people commenting such hate on them. There should not be any hate towards people who are skinny. In fact, there shouldn't be hate on somebody who society deems "fat" or anyone in general. Why do we feel the need to troll the internet looking for such openings to exploit people? We are all entitled to our opinion, yes. That is our right since birth. But, we have to learn to exercise self control. We all judge. All of us. You could be reading this at home and shaking your head, "That isn't me." But it is. We all do it, it's human nature. So, instead of defending our innocence, lets own up to it. I'm not telling you to stop judging people because you can't, especially in a society like ours. I'm just suggesting that you take a step back and look at whats deeper than the surface. 

Yes, you judged someone. Accept it. You thought that person was too fat for the tight shirt they were wearing and you laughed or whispered to your friend about it and pointed. Or, you made fun of someone for the way they walked, or the speed that they did things. I've had it happen to me recently, and though you tell yourself not to listen to the whispering, it's probably about someone else...it isn't and it hurts. Even if you're whispering about something totally unrelated, the self conscious person's mind wanders. What did I do? Oh no...they're totally making fun of my makeup or lack of makeup today... You just destroyed that person's confidence that they worked so hard to build up. What do you do? Maybe walk past them and compliment them on something else that they're wearing and draw their attention away from what they're obviously self conscious about. Instead of thinking, "Man...I'm too fat for this top" they'll be thinking, "wow...my hair looks great today!" I'm not asking you to lie and sugar coat things to people, but I am asking you to be sensitive about it because there are days that you feel the exact same way whether you're willing to admit it or not. 

DO NOT BULLY. EVER. This is the golden rule, especially on the internet. ESPECIALLY ON FACEBOOK. First of all, if you're trolling behind a computer screen, do not use your real name. That is just ridiculous and you're making yourself look ignorant. I'm not hinting for you to troll at all. You shouldn't even be doing that. Stop hating on people who are skinny, showing off their bodies, have children, who are fat, who have thin hair, etc. Do not comment, "Thirsty B*tches" because someone has skimpy clothes on. Whether they want attention, or that's just how they like to dress, you shouldn't be judging them on the internet. Do it in your head. They don't need to know. You're openly destroying somebody's confidence and not everyone can move past terrible hate. If you don't like the picture, scroll past it. If they're not physically harming themselves, children, animals or anyone else, ignore it and be the bigger person. 

You didn't mean for your comment to come out that snide. Your sarcasm wasn't caught over the internet. What do you do? Apologize. Always apologize. You're not above any of that. Do not sit there and start a fight because of something YOU said. Please. Save yourself the embarrassment and trouble.

Lastly, don't sit back and let someone get hate. (I'm not talking about celebrities...they're professionals who get hate everyday but also get twice as much love.) But, if somebody comments "You look fat in that picture" you write back "You look great, don't listen to them!" Foster love and not hate. Don't spread negativity, instead take a negative situation and pour in positivity.

The Evolution of Sims!

Hey everyone! Its been awhile since we posted anything. I've got some free time now and every Thursday I will be posting something.The Sims is my absolute favorite game franchise. I can play Sims all day long honestly.With the Sims 4's new building scheme announcement a few days ago, I thought it'd be nice to take a walk down memory lane and see just how much the Sims franchise has grown. (Disclaimer: None of the pictures belong to me! Most of the information is either from Wikipedia or my own personal knowledge of the franchise!)

The Original Sims (PC):
It is often referred to as The Sims 1. It came out in February of 2000. By 2002, over 2 Million copies had been sold worldwide. In fact, the Sims Franchise is the best selling on PC. There are a total of seven expansion packs released for the original sims and 2 deluxe versions. These original versions have all been made by the gaming company Maxis and not Electronic Arts. (Wikipedia).

The graphics were primitive, but still good for their era. I remember getting the Sims deluxe which came with the base game and the House Party Expansion.

The Inflatable chair was my absolute favorite. I had these instead of couches. In the Sims, the object of the game was the same as the later games, control your sims and lead them to a life of riches and luxury or rags and crime. The expansion packs were a huge plus because they kept adding more and more to your game play.

The Sims 2 (PC):
The Sims 2 came out in 2004. It takes place 25 years after the original Sims. The game itself was a transition from 2D graphics to 3D graphics and therefore had to be built from scratch. The SIms 2 introduced six distinct life stages, ranging from infant to elder. Weekdays were also introduced where vacation days from work and school were available. Along with 8 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs, there has also been over 400 exclusive items that could have been purchased from the sims 2 store. (Wikipedia). The was also an exchange on the Sims 2 website that allowed players to upload their own creations and let other players download them. Custom Content and mods have also been introduced where players create their own things for the game and allow other players to add them to their games as well. Many people still play the Sims 2 today.


The most prominent expansion pack had to have been Seasons, which basically added weather to your game. No more constant sun. It made the game more realistic for many fans.

The Sims 3: 
This is the newest installment in the Sims franchise. There have been 11 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs released. Exclusive content is still being sold on The Sims 3 store. There are TONS of custom content and mods available to download created by fans of the series.

The graphics have significantly improved and many new game features have been introduced.

The Sims 4:
This game has yet to come out but it has been officially announced by the Sims team. The newest addition to the franchise is emotions that affect how your sims interact with each other. In the Sims 4, creating a sim and building a house have become easier.You can check out the trailer below: 

These sims have a more cartoony feel to them than others in the franchise.

Console Games: 
The Sims, The Sims Bustin' Out

Urbz Sims in the City (Starkly different than the games in the original series. You did not create a family or have the opportunity to create one. Instead you visited several different cities and changed your style to gain reputation with the people there in order to be allowed access into their exclusive club rooms).

The Sims 2, The Sims 2 Pets, The Sims 2 Apartment Pets

The Sims Castaway (You play as a sim, or group of sims who were travelling and got stranded on an island. The objective was to get off of the island and back home.)

The Sims 3, The Sims 3 Pets

Android/Iphone games:
The Sims 3, The Sims 3 World Adventures, The Sims 3 Ambitions and Sims Freeplay (Time is based on actual time and not sims fast forwarded time. For example, showers take fifteen minutes and not five seconds.)

Other Versions:
The Sims Online (An online game where players created their own sims and interacted with others over the internet. It is since discontinued.)

The Sims Life Stories (It had the Sims 2 graphics but was created to be more laptop friendly. It introduced a story mode as well as freeplay.)

The Sims Medieval (A standalone Sims game. You control a kingdom of sims in the Medieval time period. It has one expansion pack: Sims Medieval Pirates and Nobles.)

The Sims Social (A discontinued Facebook game. You created a sim and had to do little quests. It was very friend oriented in which you had to constantly ask your friends to send you things in order to advance.)

Cosplay

What exactly is cosplay?

The term cosplay comes from the words costume and play. Basically, it is where people dress up as characters from their favorite anime, televisions shows, movies and even video games.

What makes it different than a costume?

Cosplayers take their craft seriously. They make their costume from scratch with the intention of wearing it for more than just Halloween. They don their homemade Mario (or even store bought sometimes as well) costume and parade it around conventions, interacting with people, posing as their character would and even speaking as if they were that very character.

Why would somebody cosplay?

Why not? It is an extremely fun way to show your dedication to a series. Its easy to tell who likes what from what they're wearing, and if you see someone dressed up as Sora from Kingdom Hearts and you absolutely LOVE Kingdom Hearts, you can march right over and talk to them. Chances are they'd be excited to talk about the series. Plus, its fun being somebody else for a day (or the case of some conventions, a few days). 

This sounds like fun, how do I start cosplaying?

The majority of cosplays are done at game launch events or conventions. Find a convention you'd be interested in attending, either a comic convention or an anime convention, depending on your interests. After that, start thinking about what you want to cosplay as, how much time you have until that convention, whether you're going to make or buy your cosplay and if you're going to make your costume, how difficult it is going to be.

From my experience, I'd say go for an easy costume for your first cosplay to test the waters. After that, you can move up to more difficult cosplays depending on what your skill level is. Make sure that you cosplay as a character that you love. Chances are people will approach you, whether your costume is top notch or a beginner one. They want to talk about the love of a character, show or video game with someone else who loves it just as much. You don't want to be standing there not knowing what to say to someone who actually watches the show with the character you're dressed as. 

There are countless videos on youtube about conventions and cosplay in general. There is a huge community that cosplays. The best cosplaying website, for everything you need to know about cosplay is cosplay.com.

Daylight Review [PS4]

Hey everyone, it's Anna here with another game review. Recently, Daylight was released for the PS4. Like it's predecessor, Outlast, it is an indie horror game. If that seems to be your kind of game, keep reading.

There is the trailer for you horror lovers. You play as Sarah, in a series of areas ranging from a hospital to a prison to a forest. The game, similar to Outlast is played in first person. 'You' are Sarah, going through this adventure. There's is an ominous voice that is triggered during cut scenes that acts as a guide. Frankly, it'd be much scarier if he wasn't helping you out but leading you to your doom. But, in Daylight that is not the case. The 'enemies' in this game are shadows which are absolutely terrifying. They pop up behind you (hence, shadow) and if you face them, they'll let out a horrifying shriek. Your aim is to basically find these memory fragments and bring them back to the room with a large "sigil" to unlock an item which is used as a key to opening the next area. That's just the mere basics, more will be explained in the pros and cons list I have made below.


Pros:

• You have a map that you can use at all times.
• Similar to Outlast, you have something to illuminate the room, but instead of a night vision camera it is a glow stick. You can hold four of them, but they are very easy to come by and you can even throw them. I never actually ran out of them or came close to while playing the game.
• The fragment dynamic is different and reading the clues can be interesting if you have the patience to read them all.
• Parts of the ending are wicked.
• Female Protagonist! For once, a strong willed female protagonist and a game developer who isn't scared of losing a male audience. 

                                                   Total: Five

Cons:

• The game is really too short, I finished it in two sittings. It is extremely possible to finish this in one sitting, it is much shorter than Outlast.
• The story-line is hard to follow. Maybe I missed a lot by skipping through most of the fragments but I had no idea what really happened throughout the game, I can only vaguely explain it to you.
• Too many fragments. I'd rather play through the story and hear about the story from the ominous voice than have to read ALL of those fragments. Seriously, there's a ton. (They are similar to the case notes in Outlast). I mean, at one point I just stopped reading them because it was getting tedious.
• Once you know how to beat the Shadows, the game play becomes boring. They are so easy to avoid, that it makes the game kind of boring. But I do have to say, they are pretty scary. 
• Barely any cut scenes to explain what is happening. I feel like I was wandering around the area finding clues that weren't even explained to me.
• It doesn't feel like you're trying to escape, it feels like you're trying to solve a mystery of some sort. It doesn't accomplish either really.
• The voice acting is repetitive, Sarah says the same things over and over again.
• Lack of characters. There is only the voice, Sarah and the shadows if you count them. Add some psychos or something.

                                                         Total: Eight

As you can see from this list, the cons outweigh the pros. I give them props for having a female protagonist but that isn't what is going to keep people from playing it. Outlast is one of the scariest games out right now, and it has an easy to follow, linear story with scary characters. Daylight just isn't up to par with it. I may be harsh because I love Outlast so much, but honestly, I say pass this game up and spend the ten dollars on the Outlast DLC, Whistleblower.

Nerdy Tattoos

We all know how much I love video games and wrestling. I got a lot of positive feedback on my last blog post, so I figured I'd post some more tattoos. I don't actually plan on getting a tattoo, but my inner nerd can't help but fangirl over these crazy video game and wrestling tattoos. 

WWE Tattoos

Technically, CM Punk does not work for the WWE anymore. Technically. But, he is still under contract and WWE has taken full advantage of making money off of his merchandise. Its a topic for another day. This mega fan tattooed CM Punk (long hair) on her leg. I wonder how she's taking the whole CM Punk/WWE controversy?

AJ Lee as a zombie? The former divas champ retweeted this on her official twitter account. I was honestly shocked at this, despite my knowledge of AJ's HUGE fan base. I just wasn't expecting an AJ Lee portrait tattoo. Reason being, WWE talent is shifted in and out depending on how the storylines go. AJ Lee may not always be relevant (sadly) but this person must be a huge fan that supports her (even without her title) and that is crazy cool.

This is a classic. The Phenom. The Undertaker. 21-1. I don't even have to say anything about this really, because all you wrestling fans know how cool this is.

Hulk Hogan! Look at that face. We have another dedicated fan over here. I wonder, will Hulk Hogan ever become irrelevant in the wrestling community? Not with the network around haha.

This is the ultimate tribute tattoo. Though, there is the possibility that this tattoo was drawn before the warrior's untimely departure. RIP Warrior, a true wrestling legend.

Mankind. What is particularly interesting about this tattoo is the person's choice on Mankind specifically. Mick Foley has had several personalities in the WWE. There was Cactus Jack, Dude Love, Mankind and of course Mick Foley himself. It was probably the fact that Mankind fell off the top of the huge cell at King of The Ring, 1998 and survived that got him this stellar tattoo.

This is my favorite WWE tattoo by far. Soak it in. A full belt. The greatness of this tattoo is the fact that it is an actual scale replica belt...on this man's stomach. It does get better. Wait for it.

Bam. There's a back. That is one thorough tattoo. I present this guy with the world heavyweight championship for the best wrestling related tattoo.

Lets start with a classic game, Mario.

Final Fantasy. I know a lot of people love this game series. Brace yourselves.

A chocobo. Chocobos, are these yellow birds that several characters use as transportation in almost all of the final fantasy games (correct me if I'm wrong). Chocobos are pretty much a classic final fantasy reference.

This is the infamous l'cie brand seen on the six main characters in Final Fantasy 13 and also on [SPOLIER] Snow in Final Fantasy 13-2.  This was such a clever tattoo idea. You know, if this guy doesn't complete his focus, he'll turn into a cieth right?

The Mimic

The Mimic

It is midafternoon and you are home from the last soccer game of the season. You are covered in mud and twigs and you are showered in defeat because your team lost the championship this afternoon against your rival team, The Saints. You are angry with yourself for missing the last goal that could have changed the outcome of the game and you wonder for the millionth time why you chose to be part of the shittiest soccer team in all of Boston.

You walk straight past the kitchen where you see your mother’s back facing the doorway of the kitchen. She is chopping celery for the stew dinner you’ll be having later. You hate celery and you hate stew. It’s just your lucky day.

She must have heard you because she calls out, “Abby! Sorry, I couldn’t make the game today. I had a meeting. How was the game today?”

You grunt an unintelligible answer, which is probably a good thing because if it were intelligible, your mother may have thrown something at you because your answer is most likely naughty words you’ve picked up since you started going to Roger Skillings High School, notorious for prepubescent-looking teens who run their mouths like dirty tractors in muddy sea waters.

You stomp your way up to your room, toss your backpack in a corner, kick your cleats off and crash on your bed. All you want to do is sleep and hope that when you wake up the next morning the pervious day would be a nightmare that you would try your best not to make reality.

 An hour later, you are half asleep when you hear your mother call.

"Abby! Time for dinner, hun."

You grunt and turn over in your bed, bringing your knees up to your chest. You don't answer.

"Abby!"

You yell, "I'll eat later, Mom! I'm not hungry!"

Your mother doesn't answer immediately so you take it that she gets you are in the mood to grieve your loss and will leave you alone for the remainder of the day.

Ten minutes later she calls again.

“Abby! Abigail!” Your mom is calling for you again and you can hear the twinge of annoyance in her tone and a twinge of something else that you cannot decipher. Anger? Urgency? Excitement?

Feeling the strong urge to scream your frustrations at not being able to mope after your pitiful loss, you get off your bed, jam your feet into a pair of beat-up moccasins that your mother keeps telling you to throw away, but you refuse because they are just way too comfortable and throw open the door to your room. You march loudly so your mother can hear every step that she is forcing you to make just so she can bother you some more downstairs. You reach the landing and are about to take a step down when a hand reaches out and grabs your hoodie and pulls you in. You are taken aback and attempt to scream when a hand covers your mouth tightly. You are kicking and punching furiously to get away from the unexpected stranger who pulls you into the bathroom, locks the door and finally releases you. You fall against the tub and turn to fight your perpetrator and instead find yourself face to face with your mother.

“Mom?” You are confused now. Hadn’t she been calling you downstairs?

Your mother is pale and appears shook. She is shaking. “I heard that too,” she whispers.

“What—?”

“Catherine!”

Color drains from your face. The mother clutching your hands hadn’t called you. The mother downstairs did.

Hi guys! I've decided to do something a little different and post up half a short story that I wrote a few weeks ago. Just to let all of you know, I was free-writing when I wrote this, so it is far from perfect, but I really wanted you guys to read what I have so far and maybe in the future I'll put up a full, better edited version of it. Tattoo Extravaganza

Tattoos! Yay! Finally! I’m sorry for such a long wait on the request but I’ve been trying to find some really cool pictures. These pictures are all from google or buzzfeed so I don’t have credit for all of them, but none of these tattoos belong to me or anyone I know. If its your tattoo let me know who to give credit to. 

Ok, lets start by looking at some super cool tattoos.

This pen behind the ear tattoo is great for writers, carpenters and you know, other people who constantly have a pen behind their ear. You know what would spice it up? If it was one of those colorful pens. Also, it'd be cool if there was ink coming from the pen.

I've been impaled. Ok seriously, who wouldn't want to look like they've been stabbed repeatedly by nails? This design is made complete by the shadows and the blood. The nails themselves could use a little more dimension and more blood would look great. Come on, you've just been stabbed by  THREE nails, a little more blood couldn't hurt. This is still an all around epic idea though and since I'm no tattoo artist, I can't really judge.

This tattoo is so cool. It looks like the hulk came and smashed this dude's arm and when the skin fell off, it left a message of love, tolerance, integrity and family. The star kind of gives me the military vibe and its a great tribute. The detail around the star is impeccable.

This design is similar to the above one, but what i really love about this one is the scratch on the top. It adds a little more realism to the design. It really looks like there are pages under this dude's arm. Bravo!

You may have to look twice at this one. She isn't actually holding a baby. The newborn is tattooed to her chest. i don't know the story behind this but what if that's what her actual newborn baby looks like? Its a really cool idea, but unless you're going to walk around topless, I don't see the practicality. Wouldn't most of the design be covered up by a bikini top when she goes to the beach? Or you know, her shirt whenever she goes out?

Walt Disney's phone number? No, actually, its the coordinates of Disney World. First of all, how did they find out this information? [Probably a quick Google search] This is incredibly cool for a huge fan. They probably have some great memories at Disney World that they want to remember. It is the happiest place on earth after all. 

Just look at this design. Its so clean cut. The artist who drew this is seriously talented. Wow. 

Do you know who this is? ZERO from the Nightmare Before Christmas. He is my absolute favorite ghost dog ;) Its a really cute idea for a tattoo.
